I have been seeing a lot of runway shows over the last couple of weeks and in all honesty there hasn’t been that much to get excited about. However, on Saturday night Croatian-born Designer had his aw10 show. Held in an old Parisian car park I was fortunate enough to get into a position where I could see all the the models being styled, tweaked and checked before they walked up the concrete ramp and onto the runway, I loved watching and shooting this process and backstage photography is something ill be hoping to do more of after this experience. The show certainly lived up to the hype and the reception of the crowd was like nothing I’ve seen before.

Paula Gerbase of 1205 0

Paula Gerbase began her career working for designers like Alistair Carr and Gareth Pugh before beginning her training in couture tailoring at the atelier of Hardy Amies, Savile Row in 2004. Following this, Gerbase went on to work with Carlo Brandelli, then Creative Director at Kilgour, leading to their 5-year collaboration - her graduate collection was finished whilst she held the title of Head Designer at Kilgour. oki-ni.com have picked Paula’s brand ‘1205′ and I caught up with her before Christmas to shoot her portrait for her New Face’s of Menswear feature to be launched very soon.

Nigel Cabourn coming soon 0

Just before christmas I was lucky enough to travel upto Gosforth, Newcastle to visit Nigel Cabourn and his team at his beautiful studio and office at his amazing home. We were there to interview Nigel and shoot just a small part of his vast archive of vintage military clothing. We shot in the garden which along with the covering of snow made the perfect backdrop, the images came out beautifully. We shot 10-15 looks, a video of the day and an extremely interesting video interview with a truely inspirational and wonderfuly charming character, Nigel. They will all be part of a Nigel Cabourn feature when the ss10 collection launches at oki-ni, and I will post more online soon. A huge thank you to Nigel, his wife and father in law we were made so welcome and I had an absolutely perfect day to finish 2009 off with. Shout out to Drew who both modelled and helped us out all day as well as the boys in the studio.

Portraits shot of oki-ni’s creative director John Skelton for issue 5 of Sang Bleu. Shooting for Sang Bleu is an absolute privilege, to call the 500 page monster a magazine would be doing it a disservice due to the time, dedication and attention put into it. A great thanks to Maxime Büchi the creative genius and editor as well as friend and fellow editor Adrian Wilson. Cannot wait to get my hands on a copy in February.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Things have been quiet on this blog for far too long now but after a lot of work and a long Christmas break I’m back and ready to hit 2010 hard !
These images are from a shoot I did way back in October for issue 3 of The New Order magazine of Dover Street Market’s first full collection. The issue seems to be delayed but is due out any time. It’s a new publication that I am really proud to be involved with as they have a no compromise attitude on quality and direction. I was lucky enough to shoot two stories for issue 3, a post on the Casely-Hayford feature will follow this week. Thanks to Stephen Mann. Styled by Christopher Amfo.
