The scans are back and the ‘Fausto, Manu and Nacho’ gallery has been created. As previously mentioned I am digging the black and white ones very much, really nice working in such a spontaneous and off the cuff way. We were on the beach and so were these guys so I ended up shooting a few films of them! My ideal way to work. I know the blog is relatively new and young but I would love you all to post more comment, thoughts and opinions and even send me stuff to ben@benbenoliel.com you think I could feature. I often trall the net when Im bored, looking at other blogs, photographers portfolios and trying to stear away from rinsing the plastic. Recently I was introduced to a website called Polanoid where photographers of any ability can go and post pictures taken on Polaroid film. I would say my personal work was influenced more by ‘non-photographers’ that ‘photographers’ and this is a great place to see experimental, fun and boundryless photography at its best! So I got  my contacts back yesterday of some Spanish body boarders I shot whilst I was in La Manga, Spain. Fausto, Manu and Nacho were in the surf when Leanne and I were on the beach chilling and I couldnt resist doing a few films of them. Its been over 3 weeks since I shot them and that ‘not knowing’ whilst I waitied for the oppertunity to develop them was exactly why I love film so much, hell, why I love photography so much !

I was looking through Heidi Slimane’s work as I do from time to time the other day when I came accross some images he had done of some surfers in his usual b&w style, I swear to the jury that I hadnt seen this shoot prior to mine, it was just an oppertunity to shoot these guys that were on the same beach as us was there and I could’nt resist taking it. I much prefer the black and white images as the tones work so well with the froth, sky, sea and rocks. Excuse the few personal ones. My chosen frames are being scanned whilst I type so I should have them back and on www.benbenoliel.com by the end of the coming week.
